Cedar & Sage Naturopathic Health is a self-pay practice and does not bill or accept insurance for visits.
Our self-pay model allows us to offer longer, individualized visits and develop care plans based on your personal needs, without the limitations often associated with insurance-based care.
While we do not bill insurance for visits, laboratory testing may be partially or fully covered by your insurance plan, depending on your individual benefits. We encourage you to contact your insurance carrier directly to confirm coverage and any out-of-pocket costs prior to testing.
To ask your insurance company about laboratory coverage, you may use the following script:
"Hi, I am seeing an out of network provider and they want me to have blood work done. I would like to have the blood work covered by my insurance. I was wondering if I can go to an in-network lab for coverage.”

Cedar and Sage is happy to welcome patients from near and far. Virtual (telehealth) and phone consultations are only available when the patient is physically located in Rhode Island at the time of the appointment, regardless of their permanent residence.
Patients seeking virtual care must be present within Rhode Island for the duration of their visit. -

-
No. Rhode Island does not grant us prescriptive authority. Our care focuses on evidence-informed natural therapies, lifestyle medicine, and collaboration with your healthcare team when prescription medications are needed.
-
Naturopathic and functional medicine share a common goal: looking beyond symptoms to understand the whole person and the factors contributing to health and illness.
Functional medicine is a clinical approach that examines how the body’s systems interact and often incorporates nutrition, lifestyle, and personalized laboratory evaluation. Naturopathic medicine encompasses many of these approaches while being grounded in its own medical philosophy and principles, with an emphasis on individualized, evidence-informed, and minimally invasive care.
We may incorporate functional medicine approaches into our care while remaining grounded in the distinct principles and philosophy of naturopathic medicine.
